Former Coordinator - East Africa Tourism Platform

As the Regional Coordinator at the East Africa Tourism Platform (EATP), the private sector body for tourism in East Africa established to foster private sector interest and participation in the East African Community (EAC) integration process, Waturi successfully lobbied for the EAC Single Tourism Visa, Use of ID’s as travel documents for Citizens, Foreign Residents Visa Free Travel, free movement of tourism services. She is credited for initiating joint tourism marketing initiatives and advocacy for partial liberalisation/opening up of EAC air space under the Northern Corridor Integration Projects (Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda)-Tourism Cluster. At the EAC level, she was instrumental in the full implementation of the EAC Hotel and establishment rating criteria at National Level. In 2015, she received the African Legend of Travel Award for her contribution towards travel and tourism in Africa and continues to serve on a voluntary ad hoc Intra-Africa Tourism ThinkTank
